How (and why) To Use Phonecards

(The information below is specifically aimed at Australian Reps, and we are very aware that this issue is relevant in many countries.  If you can provide us with specific details regarding  inexpensive ways to access the US calls from your country, please email us that information to visionalliance@yahoo.com and we will be happy to post it for everyone's benefit!)

Firstly, why are you calling an International number when you are accessing ONE Group's Training/Conference calls?

To run a conference call from Australia, where many people can participate at the one time, through an Australian provider such as Telstra or Optus, it usually costs around 65 cents per minute for the caller.  The number of callers who are going to be on the call has to be pre advised as well.  Obviously, this would be impossible for ONE Group to determine and also way too expensive for people to participate, especially on a regular basis.  This would make training very costly indeed!

Using a USA conference call facility is common business practice in Australia and will cost the caller anywhere between 1-5c per minute depending on which phone card is used.

Of course, you don't have to use a phonecard, but the cost of the call will be quite high as you are on the conference calls for approximately an hour's duration and will be charged accordingly as you would calling any number in USA.

If you are calling in to a conference call from Australia, these are the steps you will need to take.

1. Purchase an International phonecard from your Newsagent, Milk Bar, Service Station, Internet (see Events on your ONE Group website) or anywhere that sells phonecards for calling internationally/USA.

2. Some phonecards have an initial fee (approx $1-$3 Aust) and will then charge 1-3c per minute, or nothing per minute,  and some won't have an initial fee but will charge 1-5c per minute. Choose which suits you best.

3. Perhaps begin with a $10 card so you can then check your phone bill to see what exactly you have been charged for the call.

4. There will be a number on the card from whichever State you are in and the first step is to call that number.  Eg: Melbourne, Perth Sydney, Qld. etc.

5. Second Step is to scratch the card where is says Vouchure Number, Pin Number, Account Number etc. This will vary with each card. You may be given a paper receipt instead of a card and it will have a number at the top stating the same wording.

6. Once you have called the number from whichever State you are in, and put in your Pin number, simply follow the prompts.

7. When you are calling from Australia, the number you have been given will be preceded by the numbers 0011 1.  These numbers are required to get out of Australia and into the USA.

8. When you are connected to the call, you will need to mute out your background noise by pressing *6.  This means you cannot be heard. When you wish to ask a question or make a comment, press *6 again and you will be heard. You can participate or simply listen - it's up to you but obviously, if you have background noise such as children playing or dogs barking etc. it is "good manners" to mute yourself out in the interest of quality hearing for everyone on the call.

9. If you are unsure of these procedures, please ask your Sponsor to show you how to use the phonecard system effectively, or go upline to ask if your Sponsor isn’t actively in touch with you.

10. When you have mastered this system of calling, you may then wish to set up your own conference calls within your team as an effective way of communicating and training your group.  (see Setting Up a Free Conference Call Facility)
